The technical rescue unit was founded at the time when a refinery activity was still in the Lendava region. In the company Nafta Lendava at that time, there was still a refinery activity, drilling and extraction of hydrocarbons was intensified. The unit was professionally trained and equipped for interventions in case of an accident, at the level of the mining rescue unit. Due to the need for occasional and periodic cleaning of tanks in which hazardous liquids (especially hydrocarbons) are stored, we also started to perform cleaning activities. Operators are trained and equipped to perform work in an explosive atmosphere. Lack of knowledge, poor equipment and insufficient experience in this kind of work lead to disasters of larger dimensions and serious consequences.

Collection of hazardous and non-hazardous waste
The company Nafta strojna is registered in the waste collector’s record under number 498. The collected waste is handled in accordance with the Decree on Waste (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia. 103/2011).. We have our own storage space for storing waste for up to one year, and with the established records, we guarantee the traceability of waste from picking up to destruction.

Cleaning the tanks after termination of use
The storage manager shall report about termination of use of a storage with a capacity exceeding 10 m3 and termination of use of an individual stationary tank with a nominal capacity exceeding 10 m3 to the Ministry no later than five years after the last filling of the storage or a stationary tank.
The storage manager shall notify the ministry about the termination of use of the storage or individual stationary tank even if it finds that the storage or individual stationary tank does not meet the conditions for entry in the storage records.
Upon receipt of the application, the ministry deletes the storage or individual stationary tank from the storage records.
The storage manager must ensure that the temporary or permanent termination of use of the storage tank does not cause contamination of the soil or water, and the storage tank, which is no longer used, must be emptied and cleaned.
